Memberships

We appreciate your patience and support as we move through these challenging times together. Please keep in mind that it only takes 3 visits to the zoo for a family of 4 to save money with a Friends of Zoo Boise membership – our lions think that’s a roarin’ good deal!

Please visit https://zooboise.org/online-ticketing/ for more information on our new guidelines and to reserve your tickets. Thank you for your support. We can’t wait to welcome you back to the zoo – our staff and the animals have missed you!

Purchasing or renewing a membership does not guarantee same day availability for your zoo visit. Due to high demand, we recommend reserving tickets several days in advance of your visit. The availability per timeslot will differ between member reservations and general admission tickets. Memberships are not refundable.

Current Friends of Zoo Boise Members

Your membership will be extended for the amount of time we were closed. Just bring your membership card with you on your next visit and we will update it accordingly. Memberships are nonrefundable.

If you have any further questions or you are not receiving our membership update emails, please reach out to pcooper@cityofboise.org.

Membership FAQ

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION

How much is a membership at Zoo Boise? Who all is included on a membership?

See the info at the top of this page to find the costs and benefits of our various membership levels. Memberships at Zoo Boise start as low as $50 for an individual!

How long is my membership active?

Your membership fun begins the moment you complete the purchase! The membership will expire one year from the end of the month of your purchase.

I am moving away from the zoo/I no longer want to be a member at the zoo. Can I get a refund or give my membership to someone else?

Zoo Boise memberships are nontransferable and nonrefundable. If you are moving to another area, you can still use your membership at dozens of AZA facilities across the nation*. You can check out the list of participating zoos and aquariums here: https://www.aza.org/reciprocity.

*Please be sure to call the facility before your expected visit to ensure reciprocity benefits.

If I renew early, do I lose time on my membership?

No, your new membership year is added onto your existing membership. For example, if your expiration date is 05/31/2021 and you renew early on 1/31/2021, your new expiration date would 05/31/2022.

Do I get discounts in the zoo for being a member?

Absolutely! Members receive discounts on purchases at the Zootique gift shop, as well as free or discounted admission to exclusive zoo events. Members also receive discounts on some educational classes. When enrolling, please be sure to enroll in the activity number listed under the Friends of Zoo Boise Rate to receive the discount. A current membership is required and must be available at program check-in.

My caretaker has changed on my Household Plus Membership. What do I do?

Members can change their caretaker once during their membership year and a card must be ordered to grant your new caretaker admission on your membership. Please EMAIL the membership department to change your caretaker information.

RECIPROCAL BENEFITS

Can I get into other zoos and aquariums with my membership at Zoo Boise?

You can use your membership at dozens of AZA facilities across the nation*. You can check out the list of participating zoos and aquariums here: https://www.aza.org/reciprocity.

*Please be sure to call the facility before your expected visit to ensure reciprocity benefits.

Do you reciprocate with other Idaho zoos?

Yes. We offer 100% reciprocity with Idaho Falls Zoo at Tautphaus Park and we offer 50% off admission prices for members of Zoo Idaho in Pocatello. Please remember to bring proof of an active membership that includes an expiration date, along with a current photo ID. A barcode/key FOB to scan is not enough to gain admission to Zoo Boise for reciprocal benefits.

Membership Cards

When do I receive my membership cards?

Please allow 1-3 weeks for your membership cards to arrive in the mail. If you would like to visit the zoo before your cards arrive, please bring a copy of your membership purchase receipt with you (electronic or printed off will do the trick) and your photo ID.

I never received my membership cards.

If it has been over 3 weeks since the date of your membership purchase and you have not received your membership cards, please send an email or call 208-608-7765 to speak with the Membership Coordinator.

Do I need to bring my cards and ID every time I visit the zoo?

Yes! To protect your membership, we require that all named adults on the membership present their membership card and a photo ID upon entering the Zoo.

Help! I lost my membership card!

Replacement cards can be purchased for $5.00 at http://weblink.donorperfect.com/replacementcards listed below the membership levels, or by calling (208) 608-7765.

Gift Membership Information

I want to purchase a membership for someone else. Can I do that?

Yes, Zoo Boise memberships make a great gift for anyone! Simply go to http://weblink.donorperfect.com/giftmemberships and select “Purchase Membership as a Gift Here and complete the form.

When will the gift membership become active?

Gift memberships, like regular membership, begin on the date of purchase and will expire one year from the end of the month of your purchase.

What is the difference between sending a gift membership and purchasing a gift certificate?

If you complete the online or physical gift membership form and include the gift recipient’s information (household names, address, contact information), we will create membership cards for the recipient. These can be sent to either the gift giver or gift recipient. This is a great option if you want your gift recipient to be able to use their membership right away, or if you live far away and want to send the cards in the mail to them.

A gift certificate can be given instead on request, or if the gift recipient information is not properly completed. This is a great option if you do not know who you would like to give the membership to, or if you are missing gift recipient information. A membership purchased with a gift certificate will expire one year from the end of the month of your purchase, regardless of when the gift certificate is redeemed

CHANGES IN MEMBERSHIPS WITH COVID-19

My membership was active while the zoo was closed (March-June 2020). Did I get a membership extension?

Yes! All memberships active during the COVID-19 closure of the zoo were extended for 3 months. This extension was automatically applied to all qualifying memberships. If you would like to know your new expiration date, please send an email.

My membership card doesn’t reflect the extended expiration. What do I do?

On your next visit to the zoo, the front gate attendants will stamp all qualifying membership cards to reflect the 3-month extension. If your card is laminated or taped, we will place a sticker on your card.

Memberships that do not receive a 3-month extension: those that expired before the closure and were not renewed, memberships purchased during the closure (these memberships received a card with an updated expiration date post-closure), and memberships purchased after the closure.

Do I need to reserve tickets in advance, even with a membership?

Yes, all zoo guests must reserve a ticket in advance. Member reservations are free!

In order to protect you and your family and to keep our animals safe and healthy, we have implemented a timed entry process with a limited number of visitors entering each hour. This means that purchasing a membership does not guarantee you will be able to visit the zoo always at your preferred day and time. While there may be general admission tickets available, that may not mean membership slots are available for those same dates and times. General admission tickets are available to give people who may not be able to afford a membership a chance to visit. We open dates and time slots for members at least one week in advance.

We appreciate your patience and support as we move through these challenging times together. Please keep in mind that it only takes 3 visits to the zoo for a family of 4 to save money with a Friends of Zoo Boise membership – our lions think that’s a roarin’ good deal!

Where can I make reservations to visit the zoo?

Go to zooboise.org/online-ticketing and scroll down to the button that says Member Tickets. When you click this link, it will take you to member reservations. Select the time you would like to enter the zoo and enter how many tickets you will need to reservation. All persons entering the zoo must have a ticket, even those under 3.

I would like a refund for my membership.

Zoo Boise memberships are nontransferable and nonrefundable.
